Everything You Do is a Balloon

Written and created by Reanne Spitzer

Sucked into an absurd world where contentious thoughts of identity are characterized and exaggerated, Everything You Do is a Balloon takes you on a silly and abstract exploration of the self. Who are we? Why are we here? And why does the age-old question of “who am I?” both paralyze us and propel us? On her birthday, Reanne gets sucked into a world of her own identity crisis personified, and must use her birthday balloons as the sole tool in working through her thoughts and feelings.

REANNE SPITZER trained and worked in Toronto for 9 years before relocating to Montreal, where she currently works as both an artist and Registered Massage Therapist. A lover and practitioner of dance, music and theatre performance, Reanne aims to create works that are both silly and brave that incorporate many styles of performance art. She is a Dora Award winning performer and has contributed to the Canadian theatre canon as a performer, writer, choreographer, producer, and musician for companies such as Soulpepper Theatre, Bad Hats Theatre, The Howland Company, National Arts Centre, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Carousel Players, Cue6 Theatre, and most recently, The Segal Centre, where Everything You do is a Balloon was incubated. She plays in a band as a singer, guitar player and songwriter, and you can keep an ear out for her first single “A Moment” dropping this summer.
